Privacy Policy

The short version: we use Google Analytics to see which articles get read. We don't sell anything, run adverts, or build a profile of you beyond that.

What we collect

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which articles they read, and roughly where visits come from. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes your IP address (anonymised) to do this. We do not use it for advertising, and ad personalisation signals are switched off. Google's own privacy policy covers how it handles that data: policies.google.com/privacy.

Analytics cookies are off by default until you accept them via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain, which brings the banner back.

We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics to see overall traffic volume. It sets no cookies and collects no personal data, so it isn't gated behind the cookie banner.

We load no tracking pixels, advertising scripts, or other third-party trackers beyond Google Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics. To opt out of Google Analytics, you can use a browser extension such as Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, or block cookies/scripts in your browser settings.

Server logs

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes request data — such as IP address and browser user agent — in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. This is handled by Cloudflare under their own privacy terms; we do not access, store or analyse it.

Links to other sites

Articles sometimes link to brand, retailer or research sources so you can check a claim. We have no control over those sites and no responsibility for their privacy practices. Once you follow a link, their policy applies, not ours.

Contacting us

If you get in touch, we will hold whatever you send us for as long as it takes to reply and keep a sensible record of the conversation. We will not add you to a mailing list or pass your details to anyone else.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what personal data an organisation holds about you, to have it corrected, and to have it erased. Since we hold nothing beyond any correspondence you have chosen to send us and standard Google Analytics data, such a request is usually straightforward — just ask.

Changes

If we ever add something new that collects data — a newsletter, a comment system, another analytics tool — this page will be updated before that goes live, not after.
